English

Our English curriculum is based on excellent materials from the UK. The internationally recognized Oxford Reading Tree gives our children a firm grasp of English and lots of confidence in Reception, Year 1 and 2 (Keystage 1).

In Keystage 2, Year 3 - 6, the core of the English curriculum is "Heinemann Literacy World" which provides a range of fiction and non-fiction. In addition we have a wide selection of comprehension, grammar and reading books.

We encourage creative writing at all levels and we study a range of multi-cultural poetry. Children are encouraged to read aloud, perform poems and debate interesting topics to help them increase their confidence when speaking in public.

If your child's second language is English we have books and materials to suit their needs. We are incredibly proud of the fact that the children who have arrived at our school speaking very little English have developed good reading, writing and speaking skills in a short amount of time.
